Location: Waste-to-energy plant in Switzerland

Year: 2024

Our customer produces renewable electricity, district heating and climate-friendly biogas in the power plants of a major Swiss city. At one of its household waste incineration and recycling plants, we intervened to control odors during a 2-week technical shutdown.

The technical shutdown of the 2 boilers has several consequences:

  • Stale air from the household waste storage pits is no longer extracted. Odors and dust increase in the air volume.
  • Presence of personnel in the pits

Odor treatment:

To control unpleasant odors during the shutdown, we installed a dry-steam treatment system.

Engineering:

  • 1 VS200 P cabinet (2 nozzles)
  • 2 fans with a capacity of 6,700 m³/h

Each nozzle/fan set is directed towards the two household waste pits. The odor-neutralizing reagent used is a water-free reagent specially designed to treat household waste odors. It is sprayed at a low flow rate (90 ml/hr/nozzle), 24 hours a day.
This treatment ensures continuous saturation of the air volume and thus permanent odor control inside the pits, prior to dispersal phases (opening of doors, opening hatches when unloading refuse trucks, etc.).
