Year: 2026

Site: Household waste sorting, transfer, and storage center in the Île-de-France region

Operating capacity: 910,000 tons of waste processed in 2025

Odor management and reduction of odor nuisance

Waste sorting and storage centers naturally generate waste odors that can cause odor nuisance for local residents, road infrastructure, and the surrounding environment.

The implementation of an effective odor treatment system is essential to neutralize household waste odors, reduce odor emissions, and comply with environmental regulatory requirements.

Odor treatment solution implemented

Odor nuisances are treated using dry steam technology, which is suitable for waste management sites. The process is based on the fine and controlled diffusion of an odor neutralizer at a very low flow rate (approximately 100 ml/h). The products used consist of synthetic essential oil blends and are water-free.

Technical description of the system

The installation includes:

  • 1 VS200 P dry steam cabinet (2 nozzles)
  • Two 80-meter PVC manifolds (160 mm diameter)
  • Perforations every 80cm
  • Total length: 160 meters

Advantages of waterless treatment

  • No risk of freezing: continuous odor treatment all year round
  • Water savings: environmentally responsible deodorization solution
  • Concentrated product: reduced consumption of odor neutralizer
  • Limited maintenance: increased reliability of the air treatment system
  • High efficiency against waste odors: long-term reduction of odor nuisance
