Site: Phosphate fertilizer plant in the Netherlands
Phosphate fertilizer manufacturing processes can generate industrial emissions containing various compounds that may cause odor nuisances.
Controlling these atmospheric emissions is a major challenge for manufacturers seeking to reduce their environmental impact, improve relations with neighboring communities, and ensure compliance with environmental requirements.
In this context, implementing an effective odor control solution makes it possible to effectively limit the odor impact of gaseous emissions and help neutralize odor nuisances at the source.
To treat industrial emissions released from a process stack, AIRHITONE deployed a dry-steam odor treatment solution.
This technology relies on the controlled injection of an odor neutralizing reagent directly into the gas stream.
Using compressed air, the reagent is atomized into microdroplets measuring just a few microns, creating an extremely large contact surface area with the compounds present in the process gases.
This very large exchange surface area promotes the neutralization of odorous emissions while optimizing reagent consumption.
The installation includes:
Dry-steam technology allows the odor neutralizing reagent to be diffused directly into the gas stream.
The microdroplets generated are carried along with the industrial emissions and immediately come into contact with the molecules responsible for odor nuisances.
Odor treatment thus begins inside the stack itself. The neutralization reaction then continues within the plume after atmospheric release, which increases the contact time between the reagent and the odor-causing compounds and improves the overall efficiency of the treatment.
This approach allows treatment directly at the emission source while ensuring optimized neutralizing agent consumption.
Thanks to this installation, the site benefits from a high-performance solution for odor treatment and neutralization, contributing to better control of its industrial emissions and a sustainable improvement in its environmental integration.
